High School Baseball Rules
Derived from NFHS and FHSAA Rules
High School Rules are modified from basic baseball rules to take into account specific baseball situations that take place on a high school baseball field. Because high school baseball players have yet to fully mature, and some schools barely being able to field a team, the high school rules are geared to encourage safety and playability for high school baseball.
NFHS, the National Federation of State High School Federations uses these ideas to develop the NFHS Baseball Rule Book. Each state has their own association, for example in Florida it is the FHSAA, or Florida High School Athletic Association. They then can take the NFHS rulebook and add or modify rules to more directly make accommodations for their specific state.
